Often, at the beginning of a new year, I claim an intention for my life and my work – I ask the Universe to notice what I’m up to and to bless me with something amazing that I couldn’t ordinarily accomplish by myself.
At the start of this year, I put out an intention, a simple statement about what I was counting on for the upcoming months, that intention was ABUNDANCE

I’m quite sure, at the time, that I did not know exactly what I was asking for, as is often the case when we wish for things in our lives. I couldn’t have wrapped a paragraph around that simple word of intention, but I knew I was asking for a lot – I was asking for more than enough – I was asking for ABUNDANCE.
Be careful what you ask for! There is always a risk when you ask for things that you might actually get what you ask for, so it is incumbent that the request (the affirmation, intention or expectation) be carefully crafted, lest you get exactly what you asked for, but not precisely what you wanted!
Having an affirmation for the year doesn’t absolve you from putting in the work – and, given the way this year is turning out, I’m noticing that the Universe is attentive not only to what I’m doing right now but what I’ve been engaged in for the last several years – a kind of consistent diligence that puts both life and business on a solid path.
Self-care is every conscious action you take that feeds your soul, nourishes your body, nurtures your spirit, or replenishes your relationship with yourself!
The dictionary offers several definitions of ABUNDANCE:
- An extremely plentiful or oversufficient quantity or supply: an abundance of grain.
- Overflowing fullness: abundance of the heart.
- Affluence; wealth: the enjoyment of abundance.
Last week, at the request of my tax accountant, I was busy crafting spreadsheets so that his work on this month’s state & federal deadlines could be expedited. What this quick accounting review revealed was that I had spent quite a bit of money in 2022 and, apparently had the resources to do it well because I’m sitting with no residual debt. I think this illustrates the definition of the ABUNDANCE I’ve been claiming for myself and my business!
All three of the dictionary definitions are apparent in my life – more than I need, overflowing fullness, adequate financial security – an amazing place to find myself at a time of such national uncertainty and insecurity.
I feel truly blessed. We’ve only enjoyed three months of this new year, and all indications point to a year of bounty and blessing on many levels – financial, interpersonal and spiritual blessings. It’s been an astounding season, and I am very grateful!
What are you claiming for your life and your work this year? Have you thought about how your efforts might accumulate, what the blessings might be if you took a leap of faith and invited a level of growth, change or increase that you know you wouldn’t ordinarily expect? What would stretch you toward some kind of amazing outcome?
I’d love to help you work toward you highest ambitions, your heart’s desires, your most longed-for blessings. What would you like to see evident in your life one year from now? We could work on that together if you like, just let me know!
