OMG, Road Trip(s)!

For those of you who lead “normal” lives – lives that aren’t built around the needs of other people with serious limitations – the idea of taking a road trip probably sounds entirely ordinary. But for a full-time caregiver (like me), the logistics associated with the notion of getting into a car, spending several hours in that confined space, transporting our life (with all the necessary belongings) to a hotel, spending the night, and enjoying a different expanse of scenery is entirely foreign!

Yamas & Niyamas. . .

Because it is the 4th of July, a day all about remembering our freedoms, engaging in self-indulgence, and frightening our pets with fireworks, I thought I’d go in an entirely different direction both today and over the course of this summer. I want to share with you what I’m learning about the Yamas and the Niyamas of yoga.

Holiday Stress

We do this to ourselves, you know! Our impossible wish for the picture-perfect holiday, our expectations of a dinner table worthy of a Norman Rockwell painting, the need to out-gift or over-gift because we haven’t seen family members for months, even years on end. It’s a lot.
